Curriculum Statement

Here at All Saints Primary School, PSHE has always been a high priority and will continue to be a main focus of the school and integral to its Christian vision.  

Personal, Social, Health, Economics and Citizenship helps to give pupils the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy, independent lives and to become informed, active, responsible citizens.

All the staff at All Saints recognise that pupils should have opportunities to take responsibility for themselves and their environment.  Pupils are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities and experiences across and beyond the curriculum, contributing to the life of the school and community.

PSHE is taught during dedicated PSHE lessons and strengthened with links made across the whole curriculum. The school follows the 1decision scheme of work and enhanced with resources from the PolEd programme by the College of Policing. 

We have an enthusiastic and successful School Council which meets to discuss issues raised by pupils and dedicated members of the team which share this information with the Head Teacher.

Information on 1decision programme: The 1decision resources have been produced for the media generation and include interactive content suitable for all learning styles. Over the past eight years, each module has been created by PSHE and Safeguarding experts together with schools, and most importantly children, and we can proudly say we are providing resources to schools in 42 counties. Mapped to the PSHE Association’s Programme of Study, our resources help children to develop the skills needed to manage different influences and pressures, as a part of their personal development. Our unique suite of resources allows students to experience challenging situations in a safe environment. During their time at primary school, children will encounter many of life’s challenges for the first time. 1decision aims to provide children with the knowledge and skills needed to lead safe, healthy, and happy lives.

Kidsafe is a specialised child protection programme which is delivered into our school. 

The Kidsafe programme deals with building children’s confidence, self-esteem and equips children with effective skills to deal with unsafe situations.  Kidsafe enables children to value themselves and others and helps children to make wise and healthy choices/decisions in their lives.  Kidsafe teaches children to recognise and/or prevent abuse, i.e., what is appropriate and what is not appropriate. This is done in an age-appropriate, fun and non-scary way through a variety of media, including the use of a puppet, games, singing and worksheets.

Topics covered during the course include:-

Raising self-confidence, feelings and talking about our feelings, bullying, respecting our bodies, inappropriate touching, secrets, communication skills, assertion – saying No, computer/internet safety and age ratings on film’s and computer games.  After the full programme has been delivered, a bank of scenarios can be accessed by the trained tutor to address issues within school and our local community.

The Kidsafe UK programme continues to evolve and develop, with training taking place yearly, to help support and meet the changing needs of today's society and therefore help support our children.
